Mauritz Heine is a South African artist who began painting in 2020. He first experimented with acrylics, but soon found his true expression in oils, a medium that allows him to bring depth, richness, and atmosphere to his work. He mainly focuses on realism, with a particular passion for the unique combination of fauna, flora, and the timeless beauty of blue and white Delftware porcelain still lifes.

Originally from KwaZulu-Natal, Mauritz has also lived in the Free State and Gauteng before making Cape Town his home in 2022. Each place he’s lived has added to the way he sees the world and, in turn, the way he paints it. Through his work, he hopes to capture not just detail, but also a sense of calm and wonder—inviting collectors and viewers to pause and appreciate the quiet elegance of everyday subjects.
